so i recently installed a radeon hd 2400 serious video card people at the computer store informed me that it would be a huge upgrade from what i had....... im not so sure anymore. while i can now play games like cod4 its completly pointless becuase its sooooo laggy i cant even stand to play it.. much less the old games i used to be able to play before installing this card. i spent a good 6 hours on the internet installing and removing drivers im sure i messed that up as well in the complete complication of being unable to find a factory driver for the thing and reading forum after forum about how to install and what driver to use........ im at my last resort!!!! im about to loose it and just take the whole computer in and have it sold and buy a different one. but before i do that can anyone give me some helpful advice on why this is happening and any ideas on how to fix it. please the lag is killing me!!!!
Whoa, Bro..... Don't jump yet! Can you give us your system specs, like in my sig?

what kind performance were you expecting, the 2400 is total crap, even gaming laptops don't use that. they are only good for watching videos and put up an 2nd monitor or something. i'm not surprised if you weren't able to play cod4 with decent fps.

Yeah, the employees at the store told you wrong most likely. What video card did you have before this one?
While we can't all be quite quite as eloquent as Kyle, he's pretty well nailed it. The HD2400 is about a $30 card. It's working its little heart out and trying soooo very hard to please you, but it is what it is. (What did Kyle call it? A piece of something..... hmmm....) I would visit the folks at the computer store again and tell them Kyle, from VCF.C, says they've made a terrible mistake. (Don't worry, they know him.) Ask them to please give you all your money back so you can buy a new GPU.

to be honest i don't think your whole system is up to moderate gaming. pentium 4 is really outdated

GeForce FX5200 128MB
this is what was in it before is it better or worst??
Well, 5-6 years ago, it might have been a real contender. Please look again and tell us what you have. Look under system. EX: Intel GXXX, Pentium 4, mod XXX @ 1.xx Gh . We still don't know what you're driving.
PS If you do wish to spend "several more grand," please send it to us and we'll mail you back a card that will be "blazing fast." (please include shipping $23.47)
Corbet, Read through a few of these posts. You can build one for yourself (VERY EASY) for much less than a thousand and it WILL be BLAZING FAST!! My kids were in your same place about a year and a half ago and I started reading, right here, and we built an identical pair just like in my sig. Most of the folks you see here have built their own rigs and they switch and swap parts all day. It's fun and it really is pretty simple. If you would like to try it, shoot us a ball park price and I guarantee 3-4 guys will jump out there and tell you how best to spend your $$$ to get the most bang for the buck. Someone else will read it and comment and suggest a different component for +/- $ or performance and someone else will tell him he's FOS for XYZ reason and it's a lot of fun.
