The big hype seems to be bigger and faster or at least keep the same relative size and faster. It makes me wonder what are the possibilities of doing many multiple small GPU's on one card. Have each one (or set depending on how many total you have) specialized to perform a specific task. So in example we'll say we have 100 total small GPU's spread thoughout this card. Cluster A  takes care of geometry, Cluster B takes care of physics  , Cluster C takes care of texture processing :!: , Cluster D :?: ...yadda yadaa yada. You get what I mean. Now I'm not savy enough to know why something like this wouldn't be possible(other than maybe space??) And I definately don't know the outcome it would produce better or worse, but it was an idea. What do you guys think of it? Good? Bad? Pro? Con? Maybe we could start something of a revolution in video cards haha  .

They're already doing something like this... Called PPU.. Physics Processing Units.. A physics processing unit will be connected to your GPU and will aid it to procss physics....
From the 40-50 physics elements in Half Life 2, such as moving boxes and such, you will be able to do 3000 physics elements, making the falling of a silk cloth with all the twists, bends and shapes possible..
It would look amazing... In just 2-3 more years..

Its already started...

thats the future of GFX cards right there, youre right on the money. there has already been a ton of stuff written about this. multi threading/multi core is the wave of the future for CPUs/GPUs. The concept that youre thinking of is good, but from a practical standpoint 100 cores wouldnt make sense.
You have to understand that a core is just a really fast calculator, it will calculate whatever the software tells it to do. It wouldnt make sense to have 100 cores because a single core could be responsible for more than one thing. I think 4-6 cores each with two threads sounds more reasonable.

Ahh cool. 8) I heard rumors of this kind of thing but never knew anything was happening. I just spat out 100 for kicks and giggles. Just the idea of having more than one would lighten the load on the processing and thus make it a cooler and faster running card. (At least in my idealistic mind it would seem that way.)

the ppu that reimon is talking about is going to be some amazing technology. do a few googles on it and read up :D

Wow
man, is this goingta be the biggest leap in speed?

I hope so I want to get something with that kind of power in it!

SOOOO when can we expect a monster like this to come storming out way?? I wonder if it will come from someone other than ATI or Nvidia. That'd be a little different. That PPU sounds killer.
