i tell you what. as someone who wastes my days away sitting on my PC reading up on console specs and games going into development, i really despise one thing. Now im usually not the type to pull the whole i know more than you attitude, but come on, in this case i just had too. Tonight I was hanging out with a bunch of my friends, and my friend chris started asking about the XBOX 360. Now, he really doesnt know much about computers so he pretty much believes what he hears. We have another friend, whose name is adam, that we hang out with, who (not to sound like a dick) acts like he knows everything under the sun when it comes to PC's & Video Games, now I know my fair share, buts thats only because im a loser. Anyways...he starts talking about how the XBOX 360 is going to be sweet because it has a PCI-express video card. Ugh.
I, from natural instinct argue (in a nice, informing way) that no, it does not have a PCI-express video card, it doesnt even have a "video card" in it, but yet a GPU that is more or less built in to the system, i also explain that the GPU acts as the memory controller in the system, but to him I am speaking japanese at this point so i stop. I try to explain to him that all PCI-E is is a type of slot for a VGA card on a PC that is capable of being faster than AGP, but really doesnt make a difference right now. Well, he starts arguing that...no dude...adam told me, he said he read it in a magazine. Hmm...whatever...so needless to say, i just hate it when your in a situation where you know you are right, but because some kid in the room who everyone assumes knows more about PC's than everyone else says so, because he works at EB games, it must be true. Well...thanks to the internet, i shut him down, making him look like a fool....in more ways than one. He started talking about how he just ordered a bunch of new PC parts that will build a PC more powerful than the 360...So i asked him what video card he was getting...he said "dude...its the best card you can get" ok, what is it..."dude, its PCI-Express" he says...i argue back with a... "all PCI-E is is an interface, it means nothing, i could spend $40 on a PCI-E card that is a piece of ****, but its still PCI-E" so i ask again..."what card is it" here's the kicker kids..."its an ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro" i started laughing at him, and quickly showed him that you cant even get a radeon 9800 pro in PCI-E...and it certainly is FAR from the best card on the market these days. He got gay and kicked me out of his house...but to tell you the truth i didnt care, because i got the satisfaction of making him look like a damn fool in front of everyone...ahhh...damn it feels good to be a dick sometimes. Yea, just felt like sharing that.
