Ok, my bro is formatting his PC as I think his HD with Windows on it has had it & he has to format the 80GB to create an extra partition on it & install windows on that one.

Thing is.. I took out the 20GB drive (one that had windows on it & is dying we think) & then just left the 80GB drive in there & then set it as master.

Then when we booted up.. when it looks for primary master & such it couldn't find the drive. (I also tried it as "cable select" instead of master & it chose slave) :curse:

So I put the other drive back in & set that as master & left the 80GB on "cable select".

Now I found out that I only can set a partition as active on drive 1 .. but the 80GB doesn't seem to want to be drive 1 .. or since the 80GB drive didn't have an active partition b4 was that why it wouldn't find it as the master or what?

Cheers!

Maybe your PC still thinks that the 20GB is the master. Change it in the BIOS or reset it if needed.

Well I finally fixed the problem..

The WD 80GB drive has 5 jumper pins on it & the first 3 are labelled. So I stuck it on the 4th one & it worked as master! 8)

These bastards at Western Digital, always got to make things more complex.
