Ok guys..... VB has a stack of options to muck-around with so it took me awhile to go through most of the stuff.

I have fixed the following: changed the layout to display user info on the left again, post character limit, image restriction, time between posts, sub-forums put back, avatar & sig filesize & pixel width issues & if anyone was having trouble getting into regs/posting in regs or whatever that should also be fixed now. :)

I still have to go over the smiley images..... so don't go getting worried about them! ;)

There are a few different ways to control this, I'm still fiddling with the options.

Best thing to do when moving to a new forum software is to mark everything as read so as to start from scratch.....

I believe when you were converted over it set the default options to subscribe to each thread you posted in...... you can reset this option in your control panel. It defaults to "non-subscribe" now.

Can we have an alternate forum style/skin that only the regs can access that mirrors the original style/skin as much as possible including the banner? I know phpBB and Invision allow different banners per skin. This way the new admin can have the non-regulars seeing the banner he wants them to see and we can all use our old-fashioned ones we love?

Done. Just realize that the more posts you have, the longer it'll take to generate the search index. I just searched you and it came up with 17k+ posts. Took a few seconds to put it together, though.

I got one for ya. It keeps logging me out if I sit for a bit. I can see that this is really going to start pissing me off. I leave myself logged in but go do other things or formulate posts that take time to get together and the limit that I can be logged in kicks into gear and I have to log back in before I can do anything. Ya, you can view the RSS feed by going to http://www.videocardforum.com/external.php?type=rss2. But what you're asking for isn't available with vB in it's stock form, there may be an addon for that sort of thing.

I was only able to find two mods that are related to what I had in mind, http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108905 and http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135743. I'm not sure how helpful either of those can be, though, as the first one isn't finished, and the second works with a desktop application instead of just generating a feed.

Yeah, I saw those two over there. Neither of them are usefull, the first one is for an earlier version and isn't finished (like you said). The second one might be able to be modified to do what you're looking for, but would probably be a lot of work.

Another possible solution is to have instant email notifications (for thread subscriptions) sent to an email-to-rss service, or to an email account with a provider that has a good RSS feature.

GMail has a decent atom feed, but it only shows a snippet of each e-mail, so in order to view new subscribed threads I would still need to load gmail, thus defeating the purpose. AFAIK other mainstream e-mail providers either don't have a feed, or do the same.

BTW, GB, if you have Javascript blocked (as a significant amount of people do nowadays) you get no header at all.
How about loading the biggest header @ 100% width for people without it?

That's a good idea viddy; but last I checked people that didn't have JavaScript enabled was like 3%.... & the most popular res by far is 1024 x 768 so it would make more sense to make that the default header for people with no JavaScript. :)

I don't know... NoScript is the 3rd most popular ff extension, and even 3% ought to be worth the few minutes it'd take to write a snippet of code and add it.

And using the 1280x1024 would also have the people on 1024x768 covered if you use width=100% to resize it like i said :?

Well, was expecting to see things change a lot, and they didn't. Like I said, I'm not complaining :) it must be taking him longer than he expected to get our sister site up.

O btw, I finally figured out how to edit thread titles :) When you're in the forum, and not in a thread, double click the box that the thread title shows up in, it'll give you the editor.

We were gonna get a new custom one made but it turned out too expensive when the site isn't really making much... however we're welcome to use already existing themes if there any good ones out there we like. :)
