The site is getting a huge amount of traffic, and there's a good chance that it will be uber slow/down at any particular moment.
Should I jump on this for that theoretical computer I'm building? Everyone @ SD is moaning about what an awesome deal it is. And maybe having RAM in my hand will encourage me to get going on the rest of the parts :P

honestly, if you are going to build your new pc, you should buy that 2gig deal you saw :) ocz is great stuff, and buffalo is new to the market afaik

I saw a few people saying that it's quality stuff. How much cheaper then the norm is the 1gb deal, really?

afaik 1gb kits like this would normally go for $70-90, I haven't paid as much attention to ddr2 fluctuations though

I meant the one you were saying is better, the ocz deal.

I was just saying, if you're going to get the new computer, 2 gigs at that price will be more worth it to you than 1 gig at an even lower price. you probably won't find 2 gigs that cheap after awhile, so since you'll probably keep your next computer for another 5 years, you need to futureproof it as well as you can as cheaply as possible right now :)

Good point  My budget for RAM was $100, wasn't it?

So should I seriously jump on that? :?
Would I possibly want more/less powerful, can it be OCed, and is there anything else I might want to consider?

The ocz deal is the cheapest price I've ever seen for a 2gig kit of good quality ram. I'd buy it, and get started on your new system asap :)
